Description:
Legal Services of New Jersey announces its 2023 Consumer Law Training series.
All sessions held via Zoom from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
It is highly suggested that you attend all the sessions, as the substance of each training day will build upon others.
Consumer Law Training: Day 2 will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
Day 2 Agenda Includes:
*New Jersey Usury Law and Consumer Credit Regulation
*High-Cost Credit Products and Traps**
*Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Federal Trade Commission**
**with guest presenter Beverly Brown Ruggia (Financial Justice Program Director, NJ Citizen Action)

*In order to register for this training, all participants must:
(1)Register with Pro Bono New Jersey
(2)Enroll with LSNJ and/or a regional program, and
(3)All pro bono attorneys who register for one or more days of the 2023 Consumer Law Training Series are required to take at least one Consumer Law case from LSNJ or a regional program. While we expect to be able to provide each registered attorney a case for representation prior to the training, in the event that is not possible, we will continue to refer cases during the six month period following the training.

Pro Bono Case Requirement:
In order to take training courses sponsored by Legal Services of New Jersey, you must first enroll with LSNJ or one of the regional Legal Services programs. By taking LSNJ-sponsored training, you agree to accept at least one pro bono case from LSNJ or a regional Legal Services program for each training course you take.

NJ ATTORNEYS MAY EARN NJ CLE CREDITS FOR ATTENDANCE AT THIS TRAINING:
As of April 30, 2022, LSNJ has been renewed as an Accredited/Approved Service Provider for NJ Continuing Legal Education. This means that this training or other event has been (presumptively) approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 3 hours of total NJ CLE credit. Of these, 0 qualify as hours of credit for ethics/professionalism, 0 qualify as diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias and 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in civil trial law, 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in criminal trial law, 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in workers compensation law and 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in matrimonial law.

| Call ahead for information about cancellations due to inclement weather
| EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION Callers (all LSNJ staff, meeting attendees, clients with appointments, trainers, trainees, etc.) wishing to get information about emergency closings or delayed openings should: a. Dial LSNJ's main number, 732.572.9100 after 7:00 am. b. The LSNJ greeting will prompt the caller to dial 3 for emergency closing information. c. A recorded announcement will provide specific information about meeting changes, office closings, delayed openings or other emergency information. | | CANCELLATION POLICY | Registration fees are non-refundable. However if a training event is rescheduled by LSNJ due to inclement weather or other emergency, paid registrations can be applied to future LSNJ Events. | VIDEOTAPING | LSNJ videotapes trainings. The videos will be edited carefully, both to sharpen the content and to eliminate any extraneous or problematic references. The recording may be made available to other Legal Services staff and/or pro bono attorneys working with a NJ Legal Services Program, through LSNJ’s secure intranet web site and directly, so that they may learn and improve their work on behalf of clients.
